I Can't Wait

It's funny how we get so used to saying, "I can't wait until I graduate," because when the time comes, it's really hard not to go back on this claim. Granted, I have one more week before I officially graduate, I really wish I knew what more was in store.

Even if I get a position here, decide to work there, or travel to this place and that, to come out of what has been a lifetime of education and (largely) knowing where to go, is kind of alarming. What's perhaps more worrisome to me, however, is not that I will be leaving this place soon, but that I will be leaving so many connections I've been able to cultivate in my four years at Cal--friends made in class, in organization, in work, during rainy days, on the bus, while studying--in short, you.

Like the words Elphaba sang in "For Good,"

It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart

I truly hope that I will be able to see you soon. In the case that this does not occur, I can only hope that I see your name in the newspaper, for all the right reasons.

Best wishes, Kevin
